PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. Working under the direction of the Regional Manager(s) of Security, this person is responsible for supervising the on-site security team and ensuring the safety and security of our Pharmacann cultivation locations. The Security Supervisor will assist the Regional Security Manager with the implementation of policies and programs relating to Pharmacann's Security Program. This role will include, but not be limited to: implementing standard operating procedures, preliminary candidate review for the new hire selection process, new hire onboarding, employee training, time card review/revision, verbal coaching to address performance or conduct concerns of a minor nature, escalation of performance or conduct concerns to the Regional Manager, and assisting with internal investigations of a sensitive nature. In addition, this role will also be responsible for fulfilling the traditional roles of a Security Associate.
This would be a day shift.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property regularly, monitoring surveillance equipment, and reviewing/auditing historical footage from various CCTV/Access Control software for the purpose of preventing and detecting potential intrusions.
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities and noncompliance to the Regional Security Manager and informing violators of Company policy and procedures.
- Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Warn contractors and visitors of rule infractions or violations, and evict violators from premises.
- Partner with on site leadership and Human Resources to identify rule infractions or violations committed by Pharmacann employees, and evict violators from premises if necessary.
- Verify identification credentials of patrons as they enter the building.
- Conduct video investigations when necessary.
- Pulls relevant video footage of incidents that occur on Company property.
- Monitors alarm systems on site and responds to all active alarms.
- Assists with implementation of security policies, protocols and procedures.
- Assists with the training and onboarding of new Security team members. This training will be accomplished through the use of policies and procedures from both the Pharmacann handbook and Security Team's established SOPs.
- Disseminates information from the Regional Manager(s) to the onsite Security team about criminal activity, policy violations, or employee terminations occurring at cultivation sites.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for onsite Security team matters while working in conjunction with the Regional Security Manager.
- Provides technical leadership and guidance to team members to ensure daily tasks, productivity level, and goals are met and maintains a consistent and successful security standard.
- Assists with facilitating the objectives of the Security team, by providing answers to questions, as well as providing the team with the tools and resources they need to perform their tasks.
- Identifies potential cultivation site security deficiencies.
- Conducts cultivation site alarm testing at Pharmacann locations to proactively address security concerns.
- Conducts camera and access control audits for local processing/cultivation sites.
- Maintains a culture of professionalism.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations/laws.
- Responsible for security coverage during call offs and staffing emergencies to ensure staffing levels are met at all times.
- Review time cards every pay period prior to the Regional Manager's approval
- Issues verbal coaching to address performance or conduct concerns of a minor nature as needed and partners with the Regional Manager when coaching has occurred and when matters require escalation.
- Assists with the initial interview screening process for new hire candidates.
- Monitors and supervises the timely arrival of scheduled guards as well as the guards' scheduled breaks.
Competencies and Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a comprehensive multi-state background check, including criminal history & obtain/maintain state agent requirements
- Valid driver's license and ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record background check
- A minimum of 2 years of security, safety, or related experience.
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- 2-year college degree or related college coursework in criminal justice, risk management, or business is preferred.
- Experience working security in the cannabis industry, security related fields, law enforcement or military is preferred.
- Demonstrated safety, security, risk management, and client service capabilities.
- Ability to deliver clear, concise, accurate and effective communication (verbal and written) proactively.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and ability to make sound and reasonable decisions through careful evaluation and understanding of the impact of those decisions.
- Ability to identify the appropriate escalation of issues and concerns
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in the use of Google/Microsoft programs (sheets, docs, gmail, word, excel etc.).
- Understanding and experience with the use of various CCTV surveillance systems (both analog and IP) as well as alarm and access control systems.
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to partner with team members to manage risk and ensure compliance.
- Strong orientation to teamwork and collaboration, Ability to partner with onsite managers on operational matters and take on tasks that are time sensitive.
- Ability to deal with and resolve problems in a professional manner, including conflict management.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
- Able to perform general office managerial and administrative activities.
- Able to visually observe, speak, and hear.
- Able to stand for long periods of time, walk constantly, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Hours can exceed 40 hours per week, and will require weekends, nights, holidays, and open work availability.
- Occasional travel by conventional means to other locations as required is possible.
- Schedule will consist primarily of peak hours for location, but will require supporting overnight or late night shifts, when needed.
- This position may be required to work outdoors and/or during inclement weather.
