About the Job
ABOUT VESSEL TECHNOLOGIES
At Vessel Technologies, we are committed to solving one of the world's most critical challenges—the global housing crisis. In 2024, we introduced the V1, a complete game changer. It's gorgeous, wickedly smart, healthy, safe, sustainable, and at an affordable price. It's going to end the global housing meltdown and restore faith in the American dream for essential members of our community, including teachers, first responders, and essential workers who can't afford a decent place to call home.
We believe everyone deserves access to a healthy, safe, and beautiful home, and we are working to make that vision a reality, one Vessel at a time.
Architectural Product Designer
Vessel is seeking an architect with 2-3 years of experience to join our team as a Product Designer. This unique role blends architecture and product design; an ideal opportunity for architects that are interested in breaking with the traditional consultancy career path and want to learn to apply their skills in an environment much like the other great product development companies (think Apple, Tesla, etc.).
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and BIM management, on the first transformative apartment design concept in over 100 years, working for a single client—Vessel.
This position is intellectually and creatively demanding. It's not for anyone seeking a WFH environment or who prioritizes quality-of-life. The successful candidate will be committed to Vessel's mission and driven to do the very hard work required to build one of this generation's transformational companies.
For this effort, you'll be rewarded both financially (both through your base salary and participation in Vessel's Employee Stock Option Program) and professionally, through your contribution to solving one of society's greatest challenges.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THE ROLE
- Explore and enhance Vessel's existing product line and expand into new categories.
- Incorporate sustainable design, universal design principles, and accessibility into product offerings.
- Ensure designs comply with building codes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and BIM teams to ensure the technical and commercial viability of design concepts.
- Lead efforts to integrate green building technologies and sustainability certifications into product designs.
- Streamline the transition from design to construction documentation with BIM management teams.
- Solicit user feedback to continually improve product designs.
- Research and recommend new materials, technologies, and construction methods to elevate Vessel's product line.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- 2-3 years of experience in architecture or product design.
- Strong interest in sustainable design, universal design, and accessibility.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and BIM management.
- A blend of creativity and technical knowledge, with the ability to deliver practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with experience soliciting user feedback and coordinating across teams.
- Ability to manage long-term product design projects, focusing on impactful results rather than short-term tasks.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
- The base salary is around $100,000 annually, depending on experience and location. Additional forms of compensation, such as equity and bonuses, are included in the total package.
