About the Job
As the Applications Specialist position you will be part of the Automotive Parts and Accessories organization, reporting to the Applications Supervisor of that group. You will contribute to productivity of APAD Technical and Quality Control Spray Rooms through preventative maintenance, applicator and machine repair, and development of new processes and equipment. You will also work with lab associates, maintenance mechanics, and plant production personnel. Individual contributor for your projects or task with guidance from the Applications Supervisor. Listen and communicate within the work team, providing concise documentation of daily work, and able to work independent to accomplish tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all PPG safety protocols and encourage a broad safety culture in a laboratory work environment.
Work in small team environments to accomplish goals.
Work with Hand Tools and Power Tools to maintain, repair, modify, or fabricate spray equipment.
Understand the functionality and have the capability to repair Hydraulic and Pneumatic equipment. (Air and Fluid lines, pumps, regulators, and valves)
Proficient with using a computer and basic understanding of Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Prepare equipment for Lab Technicians and Run spray equipment for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
Develop and implement processes to improve safety, ergonomics, and workflow in spray rooms.
Provide coverage for the spray rooms to minimize downtime.
Positively contribute in a team environment, collaborates with team members, and supports team engagement initiatives.
Maintain an accurate, neat notebook. Document all observations and training, including unusual results. Communicate results and observations to direct supervisor.

Qualifications
High School Diploma
Problem-solving ability
A background in spray equipment and general maintenance is highly recommended
Paint shop experience or a technical college degree would be beneficial as well as a bachelor’s or higher STEM degree.
A successful candidate will work onsite.
