Status: Full-time hourly
Schedule: Days, including weekends and holidays
Reports To: Animal Care & Experience supervisor
Supervises: Animal Care & Experience specialist

A Day in the Life:
As an Animal Care & Experience Coordinator, you will be directly responsible for the day-to-day operations on the floor, including overseeing care, culture, relationships, and efficiencies. The coordinators' primary location is in the kennels mentoring the Animal Care & Experience team and volunteers. This role requires consistently demonstrating strong communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking skills. You will demonstrate innovation, compassion, and excellence by ensuring all animals receive: kindness, compassion, low stress handling, positive interactions, mental stimulation, and physical exercise daily.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma OR
- Customer service or animal experience (preferred).
- Proficiency with or ability to learn/use Chameleon software for use with animals in shelter.
- Have and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all animal care and experience procedures.
- Handle all animals humanely per our low-stress and fear-free standards; correctly use safety equipment if necessary.
- Adhere to all established workflows to ensure the needs of the animals, the department, and the organization are met.
- Consult regularly with the Animal Care and Experience Manager/Supervisor regarding work schedules, department procedure and any necessary corrective actions and/or employee and volunteer relation issues
- Assist Animal Care and Experience leadership with department goals, budgets and advancement. Make recommendations and participate in departmental improvements, staff training and team building.
- Monitor, oversee, counsel, and evaluate job performance of Animal Care & Experience Specialist.
- Review and adjust staff schedule/assignments as needed
- Conduct inventory, equipment and timecard audits
- Work alongside of the Animal Care & Experience Team and volunteers in the kennels and provide coaching, training and other supportive guidance.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
