Become an Aircraft Operations Technician at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll add compelling high-level responsibilities/ impact specific to role here: you’ll be proving ground support to aircraft in rigging, fuel management, landing zone and mission coordinator, as well as the flight planning of un-congested and congested area jobs. Responsibilities
+ Review assignments for aircraft operations support. Creates plans for aircraft support including aircraft type, fuel plans, and staffing requirements. Completes job walks, finalizes job site readiness. Develops and submits lift plans, congested and un-congested area plans for approval, ensures applicable permits are filed and approved and consults with work crews.
+ Coordinates multiple projects, evaluates project status and institutes changes as needed to maximize safety. Consults/coordinates with aircraft operations management personnel, to ensure safety and compliance with standard operating procedures and project goals. Required to make timely decisions based on forecast and/or unanticipated weather events as well as environmental occurrences (fires, earthquakes, mechanical, etc.) which could have an adverse effect on safety and flight completion.
+ Coordinates external-load equipment, rigging, and ground support requirements. Updates schedule for aircraft support in liaison with the dispatchers and schedulers. Supports aircraft operations in the field including securing landing zones prior to the aircraft’s arrival, performs standard and hot refueling. Reposition fuel vehicles and support manned aircraft in the field or at regular base. Ensure aircraft and landing zone are in compliance with established safety requirements. Advises SCE and contract ground crews of work methods and safety procedures for material handling and take-offs and landings. May guide pilot from ground through hand signals or other communication devices.
+ Installs accessories and attachments for cargo handling, transportation of equipment and external loads. Operates hangar equipment for loading and unloading of tools and equipment. Maintenance rigging: rigs and conducts external loads. Maintains and inspects long lines, rigging equipment and supplies. Payout long lines for hover hook ups and to operate external hoist equipment.
+ Purchase and receives inventory supplies. Maintain inventory records and order supplies. Assists and trains employees; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a Class A driver license with Hazmat, Air Brakes and Tank Endorsements.
+ Two or more years of experience in helicopter external load operations.
+ Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 133.
+ Knowledge of Hand Signals and Radio Etiquette.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Analyze problems and develop/implement helicopter support plans and tactics. Plan and organize workloads. Work independently as well as in a team environment.
+ Communicate ideas, concepts, and technical data both verbally and in writing.
+ Familiarity with computer systems and Microsoft Windows software.
Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is on-site . The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

+ This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
+ This position has a 4/10 Alternate Work Schedule.
+ This position is a Department of Transportation (DOT) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
+ Relocation does not apply to this position.
+ This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following tests: Aircraft Operations Technician Knowledge Test (8505). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
