Purpose:
A Project Manager for VIP Aircraft Completions is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of aircraft interior refurbishment projects, from initial planning, execution and delivery. This includes coordinating with internal teams, such as engineering and production, as well as external stakeholders, such as suppliers and customers. The Project Manager must have a strong understanding of Supply Chain and Engineering requirements, as well as the ability to manage the information flow for cross-functional teams. This role is critical for the timely delivery of aircraft completions including supporting VIP projects' full cycle to ensure projects meet Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Schedule, and Budget factors for success.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for delivering aircraft completion projects within the approved scope, timeline, and budget.
- Develops plans and tactics for current projects to achieve project and program deliverables.
- Develop project metrics, schedules, and reports using MS Project while considering the VIP project strategic objectives for milestone completions.
- Develop project work breakdown structures and associated estimates with the Planning Team for work package costs and resources through coordination with the project team and company leadership.
- Provides insight on risk, issues, requirements, design, and/or solution to be able to effectively manage projects in program and associated dependencies.
- Uses tools daily/weekly/monthly as a standard for self and others. (IPT, Rolling Action Item List (RAIL), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Project Charter, Risk Management Tools, etc.)
- Works with Finance and Operations on appropriate business model template for consistency and planning.
- Conduct change impact assessments for scope changes, trends, and change notices initiated from the project management system and report any schedule and cost implications.
- Communicates the goals and objectives of the program and how it will impact the business at an executive and team level.
- Provides Aircraft Manager(s) and Team members with information and acts as a sounding board for ideas and approaches to solving issues that have project or program impacts
- Timely and continuously communicate with project team any schedule conflicts, resource constraints or time constraints.
- Information presented is in a format and with enough detail for making decisions with adequate background, risk, business need, etc.
- Works with area leadership to build Integrated Project Team(s).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications or Experience:
- 5 years' experience in Aircraft Project/Program Management or as Project Manager/Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or technical field, or a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Aviation-related interior operations.
- Meet the requirements for an FAA Repairman Certificate
Preferred Qualifications or Experience:
- Master's degree in engineering, business, or technical field.
- FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificate
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Indirect reporting of Service Team Leaders and Skills Managers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Attributes:
- Experience developing and managing schedules for assigned programs.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; able to manage project tasks, scope change, and schedules to keep projects on-track.
- Experience managing teams to execute projects on-time and budget, while delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction.
- Liaison with the customer representative on site, provide scheduled updates and review of the project/program
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess technical and programmatic issues.
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendors, developing statements of work and associated requirements, negotiating terms and conditions, and managing subcontractor/vendor performance.
- Self-starter demonstrating solid judgment; understands when to seek guidance but has strong ability to think and act independently under limited oversight and direction.
- Excellent and professional communication skills in all forms and formats (public speaking, team meetings, PowerPoint, memos, emails, charters, internal/external, etc.).
- Exceptional facilitation skills to bring a cross-functional team together to accomplish tasks and goals.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Project tools, database management; internet software; and spreadsheet, presentation, project management and word processing software.
