About the Job
- During the Design and Development phase work with R&D to improve the manufacturability of the product upon introduction into the NPI process leading to production release. The key measures will be the production cycle time from PCBA assembly through Final Test.
- Responsible for the review and in some cases the design of manufacturing fixtures, jigs, etc to promote a smooth transition form one assembly step to the next.
- The AME will also have responsibility for the review and approval of all PCBA designs mapping the required assembly Steps into the equipment set available at each CM, and where needed, identify the required equipment where new component or process step requires innovative solutions in fixturing to support the manufacturing process steps required. In the event there are no commercial-off-the-shelf solutions available, the AME will own the responsibility for providing the fixture, jig, tool, ect. required by the manufacturing flow of the product through the assembly process.
- Identify trends that could in high volume, low mixed production environment be a problem and propose solutions well before then.
- This person shall have demonstrated expertise and extensive experience in the PCBA assembly process, tool design, and final box assembly.
- Responsible for monitoring new technology and its potential use in driving up quality and tact time down.
- He/She has to be a solutions-oriented person.
- Work with the assigned CM Engineer in laying out production lines to maximize assembly and test throughput.
- Own the End of Life process that includes disposition of tooling and IP documentation.
