Hours: Part time position, currently scheduled for 25 hours per week, Weekday, weekend and evening hours are required. - All services and activities are In-Person and based at Site Location
Salary Range: $16.00 per hour to $16.00 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Program Summary:
Founded in 1866, Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) empowers children and families to reach their full potential, strengthen families, and foster self-sufficiency in adults. With programs in 25 locations, BCS serves more than 20,000 individuals a year.
Cornerstone Programs provide academic and recreational opportunities to children, teens and adults in NYCHA community centers. The Cornerstone program is offered every weekday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, Saturdays from 10:00 am to 5:00pm, and extended hours during the summer and school holidays. BCS Cornerstone Programs are located in Brownsville, Fort Greene, and Coney Island.
Position Summary:
As an activity specialist you will have the opportunity to interact with and impact the local community, particularly through the After-School Program. Work collaboratively with Site Director and Assistant Director/On-site Supervisor to provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors.
Responsibilities:

Assist with school learning and activities; help implement multi-sensory lessons and activities to children which are provided in the context of academically stimulating themes

Coordinate planning and preparation of activities and materials for daily schedule

Provide effective supervision to groups of children during classroom activities, snack time, recreation and field trips.

Provide effective supervision and activities to middle/high school participants during evening and weekend hours

Activity Specialist will potentially float to other sites depending on necessary demand

Responsible for taking daily attendance

Assist with developing and planning community events for children, parents and community

Oversee and monitor authorized parental/guardian drop off and pick up of children following all health and safety protocols

Outreach to parents and community to promote the program, activities and upcoming events

Attend and comply with training requirements, including all healthy and safety protocols

Other responsibilities as needed and requested by site director
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required. Some college education preferred. Background in sports, music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing, or the arts is a plus. Must enjoy working with children and be able to pass a background check.
