About the Job
As the Activity Director at Kingston Healthcare, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive program of activities and events designed to meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our residents. You will work closely with our residents, their families, and our staff to create a stimulating and fulfilling environment that promotes overall well-being and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a wide range of engaging and therapeutic activities for residents of varying abilities and interests, including but not limited to arts and crafts, music and dance, games, outings, and special events.
- Coordinate and lead group activities, as well as provide one-on-one interactions with residents to ensure personalized engagement.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess residents' needs and develop individualized activity plans.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of activity participation and resident progress.
- Supervise and train activity staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality programming and adherence to regulations and best practices.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and the community to promote participation and support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, therapeutic recreation, or a related field preferred.
- Certified Activity Professional (CAP) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Prior experience working in long-term care, assisted living, or a similar healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a genuine passion for working with older adults and individuals with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices related to activity programming in healthcare settings.
