Accounting Specialist - Veterinary Practices - R.D. Barnett PLLC
Seattle, WA 98103
About the Job
We are looking for exceptionally bright, hard-working, and self-motivated Accounting Specialist - Veterinary Practices to join our team. Initially, you will be involved with accounting projects for our veterinary practice clients. This may include transaction entry, bank reconciliations, preparation of state tax filings, production of reports, and proposing adjusting journal entries as necessary. In addition, you will also be the primary point of contact for gathering client information, setting up workpaper files, and in some cases you may enter inventory, payroll, and tax related transactions.
We want our new team member to be excited about being at a growing and developing firm. If you want the same day-to-day responsibilities with the expectation you can predict what is needed of you tomorrow, next week, next month, this may not be the right fit. To excel at our firm and to find lasting satisfaction in doing so, you will exhibit these qualities:
- Organized. You know how to keep track of multiple projects, tasks, documents, and files, follow up on loose ends, and can readily locate a document or provide a status update.
- Communicative. You are a confident and transparent communicator in every aspect with expert written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated. You don’t need to be told to get things done and are confident in your ability to do some research to find an answer rather than simply asking for it.
- Accountable. You understand that we’re all human and you are not afraid to own up to your mistakes, which you use as an opportunity to learn and grow.
- Proactive. You’re always one step ahead because you’re an analytical thinker and can anticipate potential problems and needs, allowing you to be more efficient and provide better solutions.
- Detail-oriented. You have impeccable documentation skills, a sharp eye, and never let anything slip through the cracks.
- Flexible. You embrace change and are easily adaptable in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and enjoy learning new things.
- Service-minded. You demonstrate a desire to deliver a superior customer experience and you don’t mind taking out the trash, both literally and figuratively.
- Enthusiastic. You are a team player with a positive attitude who can take the work seriously but do it with a sense of humor.
- Above all else - HUSTLE. We enjoy working hard and reaping the benefits ("work hard play hard" is overused and cliche). Let's acknowledge that public accounting is not an easy field, but it can be thoroughly enjoyable and challenging.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree and/or an advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation
- Ability to work up extra hours during tax season and extension season
- References from prior employers/supervisors/clients
- Ability to work from the office (aka Wallingford) - we want our teammates to want to come to the office!
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 (based on experience and ultimate expectations agreed upon by employee and the company)
- Casual office environment
- 15 Vacation days
- 10 Holidays (6 scheduled and 4 floating)
- 40 Hours sick leave
- 2 Paid volunteer days (at least 1 of which we do as a team)
- 401k Retirement, with 3% employer contribution and 2% profit share minimum with additional discretionary amounts added for performance exceeding expectations
- Medical and dental benefits (70% covered by company)
- Certification, licensing, and professional membership reimbursement
- Continuing education and growth opportunities
