Accounting Specialist - Halethorpe, MD

About the Company and Accounting Specialist Opportunity:

• Our repeat client is a non profit in Halethorpe, MD in business for over 20 years! They train individuals coming out of incarceration to become mechanics and fix up donated vehicles to award to economically challenged families in the Baltimore area.
• Due to growth, they are currently looking to hire an Accounting Specialist to join their small accounting team of 3.
• This role is fully on site in Halethorpe, MD. Free parking on site.
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, M-F 9am-5pm
• Reports directly to the Controller
• Ideal start date: February 4, 2025
• Salary: $50,000-$55,000 depending on experience

Job Duties of the Accounting Specialist Include:

• Manage and process all Accounts Payable invoices and checks, processing about 25-30 invoices daily
• Prepare and maintain the Weekly Accounts Payable Aging Report
• Enter and process stipend checks
• Record and reconcile credit card charges and statements
• Reconcile customer and vendor statements
• Support monthly and quarterly grant reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
• Assist in audit preparation, including documentation and report generation
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications for the Accounting Specialist:

• 3+ years' accounting experience required
• Associates degree in a related field preferred
• QuickBooks Desktop experience highly preferred
• Basic Excel skills
• Candidates must be comfortable working around individuals who have recently been incarcerated
