Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Accounting Manager oversees all accounting processes and ensures accurate recording of all financial transactions. This role upholds financial integrity by ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Beyond core accounting responsibilities, the Accounting Manager fosters a culture of continuous improvement by streamlining processes and automating tasks to boost efficiency. This role leverages strong analytical skills to convert financial data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees all accounting activities including, but not limited to, recording day-to-day transactions, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month/quarter/year end closing activities
Ensures compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
Conducts in-depth financial analysis to identify trends and, where applicable, corrective actions
Manages the costing accounting process and performs various analyses including inventory, manufacturing costs, and gross margin impact
Provides cost analysis to cross-functional teams and support process improvements, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancements
Ensures accuracy and timeliness in both internal and external reporting
Collaborates with the external accounting firm on tax returns, audits, and other assigned accounting duties
Completes weekly order intake and sales reports
Demonstrates a strong work ethic and uncompromising integrity
Experience And Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting, finance or auditing field
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
Strong understanding of the accounting standards including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
Proven problem-solver with high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
Advanced PC skills, with an emphasis on MS Excel and Power Point, and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and applications
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation
Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day transactional activities through the close process
