Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Manage the cost accounting system, procedures, and cost control initiatives.
3. Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
4. Develop and maintain budgeting systems and processes, including the annual budget, and assist in the preparation of budgets for individual departments.
5. Coordinate and manage the preparation of tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
6. Conduct bank reconciliations regularly and accurately.
7. Develop and implement accounting policies, coordination of systems and procedures, and preparation of operating data and special reports as required.
8. Analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
9. Mentor and develop a team of senior/support staff, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) is highly desirable.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
3. Strong understanding of cost control principles and experience in budget preparation and analysis.
4. Proficient in tax preparation and knowledge of tax codes, compliance, and regulations.
5. Expertise in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
6. Excellent knowledge of bank reconciliation and transactional accounting.
7. High proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g., SAP).
8. Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to manage, guide, and lead the accounting team to perform their duties effectively.
9. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.
10. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to present financial data to a non-financial audience.
