About the Job
The Accounting Clerk is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and checking the accuracy of figures, calculations and postings related to business transactions recorded by other employees. This role involves processing invoices, assisting with accounts payable and receivable transactions, reconciling financial statements and supporting budget tracking. Strong math and Excel skills are essential for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from accredited university is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and QuickBooks.
• Valid Texas Driver License with acceptable (MVR) and background check is required.
Typical Duties
• Checks figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes.
• Calculates, prepares and issues bills, invoices, account statements and other financial statements according to established procedures.
• Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
• Receives and records cash, checks and vouchers.
• Codes documents according to company procedures.
• Performs financial calculations, such as amounts due, balances and discounts.
• Reconciles, notes and report discrepancies found in records: works closely with Accounting Manager on day-to-day functions.
• Performs general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones and handling routine correspondence.
• Classifies, records and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
• Matches order forms with invoices, records necessary information, submits invoice for payment approval.
• Prepares bank deposits by compiling data, verifying and balancing receipts and sending cash, checks or other forms of payment to banks.
• May process payroll to include, but not limited to: tracking, entering and submitting for review.
• Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
