Job Details
As an Accounting Assistant, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Assisting in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
2. Ensuring the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciling subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
3. Processing accounts payable, and managing invoices and tax payments.
4. Overseeing accounts receivable, including creating invoices, processing payments, and addressing delinquent accounts.
5. Maintaining records according to GAAP, and ensuring all financial operations are in compliance with statutory legislation and regulations.
6. Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
7. Analyzing and implementing possible accounting solutions for discrepancies.
8. Assisting in the annual audit process.
9. Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
The ideal candidate for this Accounting Assistant role should possess the following:
1. A minimum of 3 years' experience in a non-profit accounting environment.
2. Proven experience with general ledger functions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
3. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks).
5. Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
