ABOUT US: Community Services Foundation (CSF) provides the training and oversight of programs and services offered in managed housing community centers throughout the metropolitan Washington DC area. CSF coordinates partnerships that provide programs and services that have been identified by the owner and residents. CSF youth programs offer after school and summer enrichment activities that include homework assistance; STEAM (science technology, engineering, arts and math) tutoring, digital literacy character education, health and wellness, journaling and public speaking, as well as services tailored to meet the needs of residents. CSF also offers adult programs that range from job readiness to social recreational activities.

Accounting Assistant
Temp to Perm
30 hours/per week

Accounting Assistant:

We are looking for a finance assistant to support our accounting functions. The responsibilities of a finance assistant include processing payments, updating financial records, and managing invoices.

A successful finance assistant should have a strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organizational skills, great interpersonal and communication skills, good experience with Excel, and working knowledge of accounting software is a plus. Ultimately, a top-notch finance assistant should have integrity, excellent mathematical skills, and an understanding of data privacy standards.

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for:

Creating, sending, and following up on invoices and payments to and from the organization.
Collecting and reviewing data for reports.
Providing support for audits on financial statements and reports.
Reporting discrepancies.
Preparing payments for employees.
Suggesting improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and reducing costs.
Other duties as required.
Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and other correspondence.
Oversee general office operations, including managing office supplies, equipment, and maintenance.

Requirements:

Prior accounts receivable/payable experience required.
Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping.
Good organizational skills.
Great interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills.
Detail-oriented.
Excellent time management skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is predominantly an office/clerical environment. Primary office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:30; schedule may shift to start earlier, end later, or involve weekend work based on business needs, workload, and other factors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, write, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands/fingers to handle or feel (e.g. type, write, etc.); and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have reliable transportation and ability to meet attendance/punctuality requirements and to facilitate on-site visits to properties (10% travel estimated).
