Location:
This position is primarily remote, but candidates must be available to attend periodic in-person meetings and events as needed. We offer a supportive and flexible work environment that blends the convenience of remote work with opportunities for on-site collaboration.
Job Type: Full Time - Exempt
Annual Salary Range: $63,000 - $78,000
Job Summary:
The Accountant at Global Village Academy Collaborative plays a key role in advancing the organization's finance and operational strategies. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for managing monthly payroll processing and other essential accounting and finance functions. These efforts directly contribute to the success of the three schools in the Denver metro area.
Essential Duties and Professional Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Manage monthly payroll processing and ensure timely reconciliation and payment of payroll liabilities.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Handle accounts payable, deposits, and grants to maintain financial accuracy.
- Fiscal Recordkeeping: Maintain financial files and records (e.g., payroll, contracts, grants) for compliance and audit purposes in alignment with State of Colorado guidelines.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Research and resolve discrepancies in financial information and documentation.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Budget Monitoring: Ensure fund and account balances are accurate, revenues are generated, expenses are within budget, and fiscal practices are followed.
- Additional Duties: Complete other assigned job-related tasks as needed.
Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Standardized Accounting Code Structure, GAAP principles (preference for GASB knowledge).
- Familiarity with State and Federal regulations related to school accounting processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in relevant financial software applications, with experience in iSolved (Payroll System) and SDS (Specialized Data Systems, Financial) software being beneficial.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines, plan effectively, and manage projects.
- Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, solve problems, make decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Demonstrates flexibility, patience, and professionalism when working with diverse individuals and situations.
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate degree in accounting or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably within a school environment.
- Strong understanding of current financial management systems and software.
