JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant 2 position is the intermediate accountant role at The Wine Group. Contributing to the timely completion and analysis of financial results and accounting transactions, responsibilities also include supporting accounts receivable and tracking the Company’s capital projects and maintaining fixed asset schedules. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, using limited judgment and initiative to fulfill tasks. Other accounting related tasks will be required as needed. This role is eligible for remote-based work. The preferred candidate will be located within easy commuting distance of Ripon, CA to assist with collecting department mail and customer checks. There may be limited travel to production facilities in California to assist with audits and fixed assets inventory checks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with the preparation of timely, accurate monthly financial statements.
- Prepare journal entries required to reflect monthly activity.
- Assist with audit work papers for the annual financial audit.
- Analyze capital expenditure project costs and maintain company fixed asset ledgers.
- Complete daily treasury transactions including wire transfers.
- Assist with accounts receivable reconciliations and resolving customer issues.
- Complete monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations
- Assist with external property tax audits.
- Administer the company’s leases, analyzing new lease proposals and advising management.
- Complete annual property tax statements.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of JD Edwards/Oracle ERP system.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional integrity.
- Able to execute on multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Primary work activities are within an office environment.
- Limited travel to production facilities in Ripon, California to assist with audits and complete annual physical fixed assets inventory checks.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly Pay Range Posted: $31.68 - $47.55/hr.
- Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
