Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and requires some in-office presence in Bellwood, IL. The AML Specialist position is responsible for in-depth investigations that are escalated from the alerting and monitoring processes and enterprise-wide referrals. Coverage includes enterprise-wide review of the bank's accountholders and their transactions: looking for unusual or suspicious activity; investigating potential suspects and providing adequate documentation of identified cases; and is responsible for the completion of filing of suspicious activity reports when appropriate. The position supports the overall AML compliance efforts as required under the Bank Secrecy Act and the Bank's AML/ CFT USA Patriot Act and OFAC Compliance Program and Procedures.
Responsibilities:
Investigate and adjudicate alerts escalated from automated transaction monitoring.
Draft and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) consistent with FinCEN requirements.
Conduct complex investigations of high-risk customers.
Collect and examine financial statements and documents to assist in identifying unusual transaction patterns.
Conduct research over available Bank systems, the Internet, and Commercial Databases consistent with the resolution of case reviews and investigations.
Document and report the review/investigation findings and prepare case files with required supporting documentation (e.g. media search results, copies of statements/checks, results from internal system searches etc.)
Recommend relationship retention or termination and
track account slosures as required
- Other duties as assigned to support the AML/CFT team.
Qualifications
Financial Industry experience required.
3 + years of experience in anti-money laundering or compliance roles is required
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, Criminal Justice or related field is a plus
Experience with Actimize Transaction Monitoring system is a plus
Analytical Skills: Ability to perform analysis of transaction monitoring alerts, suspicious activity reporting, and/or enhanced due diligence reviews.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Finance Knowledge: Understanding of financial principles and practices
Attention to Detail and Accuracy
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
