OFFICE ASSISTANT - Public Housing
Compensation: $ 17.21 per hour - $21.17 per hour ($35,796 - $44,033 annually). *The starting wage for this position will be $17.21 per hour.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, assists the centralized maintenance function of the Operations Department by providing a wide variety of clerical and administrative support; maintains tenant files and related documentation; generates required paperwork for all maintenance work scheduled to be performed; reviews and routes mail and telephone calls to appropriate staff; processes purchase orders and office supply orders; refers specific questions to qualified Authority representatives; and performs related duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Operations Manager. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
Education and Experience:
Required:
Equivalent to graduation from the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of responsible work experience performing administrative support, reception, and/or data entry.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree, Administrative Assistant diploma, or Office Occupations certificate
- One (1) year experience in property management, facilities management, or affordable housing programs

Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and federal documents. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, contractors, supervisors, co-workers, residents, and city/county agencies.
