9951 Principle Systems Safety Engineer, NASA Glenn Research Center (Part Time, 20 hrs per week).
DESCRIPTION:
Oversees system safety engineering activities of a program. Plans, designs, develops, evaluates, tests, and integrates an organization’s systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Captures, understands, translates, and documents customer systems safety requirements. Defines system and product requirements; and generates mechanical, electrical, and software performance and reliability specifications and requirements. Creates and maintains programmatic and technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution. Manages and documents system configurations and oversees all transitions into production. Performs troubleshooting and remediation, ensures successful project implementation, and performs post project end user support. Provides systems safety subject matter expertise to support special projects, as requested, in accordance with NPR 8715.3, NASA General Safety Program Requirements.
System Safety Engineer - Looking for an experienced System Safety Engineer with a background at NASA with flight hardware. This position is a part time - 20 hours per week. Must poses an understanding of NASA Safety and Mission Assurance requirements. The preferred candidate has knowledge and experience in the areas of system safety requirements and experience to assure that these comply with NASA safety standards, procedures and requirements. A thorough knowledge of payload safety requirements and experience in developing Payload Safety Data Packages is required.
Activities include:
- Develop and document hazard analysis.
- Develop Flight and Ground Safety Data Packages.
- Develop presentations for Flight and Ground Safety Reviews.
- Review Safety Verification documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Track closure of Safety Verifications.
- Prepare Payload Safety Data Packages (SDPs).
- Review Hazards Analyses and SDPs.
- Support Flight Readiness Reviews.
- Technical Interchange Meetings and Payload Safety Review Panels.
- Provide design analysis support using NASA system safety standards and methods to support safety decisions.
Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 8+ years related experience. The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience in the areas of system safety requirements and experience to assure that these comply with NASA safety standards, procedures and requirements. Thorough knowledge of payload safety requirements and experience in developing Payload Safety Data Packages.
START DATE: May 1, 2024.
LOCATION: 21000 Brookpark Rd, Cleveland, OH 44135.
PAY UP TO: $60.00-$65.00/HR.
WILL CONSIDER 1099.
PREFER LOCAL BUT WILL CONSIDER REMOTE FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATE.
SKILL/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
MANDATORY:
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 8+ years related NASA experience.
DESIRED:
- 8+ years GRC System Safety Engineering Experience.
- 8+ years NASA SMA Flight Hardware Experience.
- 8 years’ experience with NASA Safety and Mission Assurance requirements.
- 8 years’ experience with NASA System Safety policy, requirements and practices related to design, manufacturing, assembling and testing of research test hardware.
- 8 years’ experience with NASA System Safety policy, requirements, and practices experience related to the manufacturing, assembling and testing of spaceflight hardware.
- 8 years’ flight hardware experience.
- 8 years Developing and documenting hazard analysis.
- 8 years’ Developing Flight and Ground Safety Data Packages.
- 8 years Developing presentations for Flight and Ground Safety Reviews.
