About this position:
Job Duties
- Knowledge of technology required by a Public Safety Telecommunicator
- Willingness to learn Criminal Justice Information Software and telephone equipment to communicate with the deaf and hearing impaired.
- Communication skills, customer service skills, and active listening
- Answer routine inquires and refer calls not requiring dispatches to appropriate departments and agencies.
- Ability to Multitask
- Question callers to determine their locations and the nature of their problems to determine the type of response needed.
- Time Management
- Willingness to obtain or possess CPR/Basic Lifesaving Certifications
- Disseminate confidential information- record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
- Geographical awareness and location technology
- Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring information.
- Ability to remain calm and react/respond quickly in emergencies.
