Job Description: Defines requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture of products. Leads production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Promotes standardization across business activities. Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Leads development and qualification of new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate. Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Conducts complex analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts or processes. Implements corrective and preventive actions. Leads design, development and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements. Works under minimal supervision.
BR&T is looking for Nondestructive Evaluation Engineers to join our team in Berkeley, Missouri, located in the greater Saint Louis area. We are looking for a broad range of experience, including Associate, Mid-Level, or Lead level NDE Engineers.
The Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Fleet Support team is part of the Boeing Research & Technology department. We are an engineering team supporting space, commercial and defense air vehicles programs such as: 787, 777X, F-15, F-18, AV-8B, T-7A, T-45, MQ-25, KC-46, P-8, B-52, B-1, KC-135, Executive Transport platforms, Commercial Crew Transportation, Space Launch, and weapon systems. Our team is responsible for NDE Engineering supporting of pre-production, current production, and post-production efforts.
Along with supporting the aforementioned space commercial and defense programs the team provides supplier standup/certification, fabrication support/trouble-shooting and fleet support activities across the Boeing value stream. The team also conducts NDE research and development for both internal and external customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods/approaches, such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical and radiologic principles, in developing new and Client methods/approaches to address affordability and supportability objectives
Develop new sensor technology and testing systems for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applied to manufacturing and support areas
Define requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and maintenance of products and approve their use
Lead development of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes
Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to address business needs
Leads development, validation and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
Supports the Team Lead and work statement, assist defining strategies and/or provides consultation
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
9+ years of experience in engineering
Experience with nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection)
Active / Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelors degree or higher in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
Experience with Shearography and computed tomography
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience working in multi-discipline teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical customers
Experience with project management tools
Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations
