POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 40 hours/week

Location: Stoughton, Wisconsin
SUMMARY
The 4K Lead Teacher/Site Director will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourage their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. This person will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children living in low-income, at-risk environments. Will ensure the provision of quality, comprehensive child development services including education, health, nutrition, parent involvement, and necessary family support services and referrals; follow Head Start performance standards, Reach Dane policies and procedures, DCF Childcare Licensing requirements, YoungStar and/or City of Madison (if applicable); maintain positive relationships with parents, children and coworkers and community partners. The person will provide supervision and performance feedback for reporting staff.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum AA degree in Early Childhood, and/or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or Elementary Education or related degree that includes 18 credits specifically related to ECE.
- DPI certification in ECE or related DPI certification is required within one year of the start date with an educational plan thereafter
- At least 1 year experience in an early care education setting; experience teaching preschool children means completion of supervised student teaching or experience as a preschool teacher in a licensed program or employment as a public school preschool teacher
- Successfully pass the Caregiver Background Check
- Successfully complete a physical exam upon hiring
- Experience working with low-income families
- Must have a valid Wisconsin’s Driver’s License, motor vehicle and adequate liability insurance as required by agency policy and state liability regulations
- Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children, families, staff and community
- Demonstrate effective listening, oral and written communication skills
- Must be willing to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s mission
- Preferred bilingual, Spanish; not required
- Must secure Registry certificate within 90 days of employment
- Other duties as assigned
*Part Year employees have built in vacations which include summer break, 2 weeks in winter, and spring break (part year staff follow the school district calendar in which their program is located)
