Job Summary
A Quality Technician ensures exceeding customer expectations for quality, safety, and wholesomeness through an operational and analytical focus, attention to detail, defect detection, and corrective/preventative action, and strong internal partnerships with the production department.
Hours: 10pm-6:30am
Schedule: Monday-Friday, overtime on weekends as needed
Location: Beloit, WI
Core Responsibilities:
- Gather, prepare, and analyze in-process, incoming, and finished products for analytical and microbiological components as required
- Submit samples to customers and outside testing labs as required.
- Generate COA’s based on lab results.
- Perform plant-wide quality audits & inspections to ensure all employees are complying with good manufacturing, safety, food safety, and quality assurance practices.
- Ensure alignment of plant procedures with quality policies and SQF elements.
- Support the maintenance of SQF Certification.
- Assists with the training of associates and partners as needed.
- Verify the sanitary condition of production lines prior to start-up and after downtime requiring maintenance activity.
- Verify compliance with label stated weights and associated regulations for all products.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot lab equipment.
- Clean up and housekeeping of assigned work area daily.
- Contribute to team effort by performing other duties and assignments as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hairnet, earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, and uniform)
- Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting to 55 lbs.
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to create and use Word and Excel documents.
- Must be collaborative and a team player.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Must be able to distinguish with a degree of accuracy taste/smell.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Education, etc.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A.S. or equivalent in Food Science or a related field preferred. Some experience in the food production industry or in a related quality or laboratory field preferred.
