About the Job
Summary/objective
The IHM Paint Floater should understand the flow of parts on and off the paint line and be capable of promptly hanging and removing parts from the paint line.
Essential Functions
- Work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Hang parts on the paint line as they move in the prescribed manner.
- Remove parts from a moving paint line and stack them on pallets to reduce the number of possible defects.
- Keep pace with the paint line to mitigate the number of stops.
- Work overtime as company demands dictate.
- Report to and from work and breaks in a timely manner.
- Communicate all safety, quality, and production issues or concerns to your supervisor or manager.
- Ensure housekeeping is done. Clean work areas.
- Capable of lifting parts to 50 lbs.
- Any other task requested by their supervisor or lead.
- Operate a forklift and scan materials into locations in a safe manner.
- Repetitively hang 25lb parts onto the paint line according to specifications.
- Carefully place painted parts from line to pallets, keeping accurate counts without damaging parts.
- Be a team player in an environment where success is on the group, not an individual.
- Ability to work 4:00 p.m. - 2:15 a.m., Monday - Thursday, and Mandatory overtime when required.
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other departmental positions.
Competencies/Qualifications
· Manufacturing experience
· MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing facility
· Ability to stand for 10 hours
· Ability to lift, bend, and squat repetitively
· Forklift – sit down
Work environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse environment where higher levels of noise, dust, and activity can be expected. This is a non-temperature-controlled warehouse where temperatures can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There is frequent exposure to moving parts.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel required
No travel is required.
Required education and experience
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
High School Diploma or GED
MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
