Industrial Coating Applicator - Painter/Sandblaster
Our client is looking for an Industrial Coating Applicator to work at their Jacksonville facility.
This is a full-time temp to hire position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work
Summary/Objective
The Industrial Coating Applicator is responsible for operating and maintaining spray painting and sandblasting equipment for applying various industrial coatings. This role requires a deep understanding of coating product data sheets, SSPC standards, and the ability to ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.
Essential Functions
- Fluent in understanding and applying coating product data sheets and SDS sheets to ensure the safe and timely application of coatings.
- Knowledgeable in SSPC Standards and how they apply to surface coating documentation to meet NACE Standards.
- Operate and maintain painting and sandblasting equipment, including ventilation, compressed air, and PPE systems.
- Proficient in applying various coatings, including Urethanes, Industrial Zinc Epoxies, Industrial Alkyds, Organic and Inorganic Zinc-Rich Primers, Acrylics, and Enamels.
- Comprehend and apply Mil Spec requirements, ensuring proper measurement and documentation.
- Monitor environmental factors such as humidity and temperature, ensuring the work meets final product specifications.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts while adhering to safe rigging systems and techniques.
- Maintain accountability for completing daily work assignments and ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Supervise and provide direction to one or more helpers.
- Document all quality reporting methods in accordance with SEA Quality Standards.
- Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Work Environment
This position operates out of a fabrication facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level can be loud in both environments.

The employee is regularly required to talk, listen, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of related experience or training
Preferred Education and Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Industrial Coatings
- Some vocational technical training is desired
- NACE and SSPC Industrial Painting Certification
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must have dependable transportation, a valid driver’s license, a clean background check, and consent to random drug screenings.
