Job Description
The Electrical Engineer 3 supports the Substation Design organization within the Substation Engineering group. This role involves conducting system analyses, design reviews, and checks on electrical designs for substations and telecommunications sites. The engineer will perform electrical analyses, including short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash studies, and safety labeling, in accordance with industry standards and policy. Additionally, the position supports project managers and field maintenance crews in implementing projects and other related engineering activities.
Responsibilities
+ Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical subject matter resource for site assessment, scoping, design, design submittal review, RFIs, construction oversight, and project closeout.
+ Design Review: Review, check, and design electrical drawings, recommending changes and additions to existing facilities.
+ Coordination: Collaborate with COR, CO, and managers on the technical application of standards in procurement and application of electrical equipment.
+ R&D: Perform research and development activities for electrical systems and design concepts.
+ Technology Advancement: Promote the development of state-of-the-art applications and technology advancements for low voltage electrical systems.
+ Consultation: Provide expert consultation on equipment and facilities design, investigating and analyzing complex applications.
+ Policy Development: Assist in developing and interpreting engineering policies, design standards, and technical requirements.
+ System Analyses: Conduct Station Service system analyses, short circuit, and Arc Flash studies.
+ Pre-Construction Planning: Facilitate planning, engineering, and design efforts for substation equipment installation.
+ Design Parameters: Provide input on engineering requirements and technical design parameters for building facility equipment.
+ Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external technicians to ensure timely completion and issuance of designs.
+ Code Compliance: Make recommendations on the application of the National Electrical Code and the National Electrical Safety Code.
+ Quantitative Analysis: Apply analytical techniques to model and analyze low voltage electrical design strategies.
+ Project Planning: Coordinate and facilitate project planning, troubleshooting design problems, and recommending design methods.
+ Site Visits: Visit existing and proposed substation sites to verify design prints and coordinate on-site activities.
+ Document Management: Maintain and mark documents in compliance with INFOSEC and IGLM standards.
Specific Tasks
+ Substation Design: Facilitate the design of new substations and modifications to existing ones, including necessary studies and design calculations.
+ Pre-Construction Planning: Guide planning, engineering, and design efforts for substation equipment installation.
+ Project Management: Manage construction projects, including cost estimates and environmental review inputs.
+ Standards Application: Apply national standards in substation design.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
+ Experience: 10 years of work-related experience in electrical engineering.
+ Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in circuit design and analysis, power systems, control systems, instrumentation, and measurement.
+ Safety Standards: Understanding of electrical safety regulations and standards.
+ Codes: Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Building Codes (IBC).
Preferred:
+ Communication: Effective oral and written communication skills.
+ Software Proficiency: Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Pro, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise.
+ Studies: Experience with short circuit and Arc Flash studies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $67.00
