1099 Auto Desk Adjuster
We are looking to onboard 1099 desk adjusters for multiple in office roles that are long-term assignments with our client’s growing Claims department in Bedford Park, Illinois. Depending on your expertise, you will either investigate and handle coverage-related general liability, including property damage, or general casualty claims, including bodily injury. You will bring prompt, courteous, proper, and fair closure to claims requiring investigation due to potential coverage issues, liability and/or damages.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and determine course of action on each file assigned, utilizing technical knowledge and experience for the purpose of supporting final disposition of a loss
- Investigate, prepare evaluation, and settle loss files for insureds and claimants; follow up as needed relative to obtaining of proper information/documentation in order to resolve claims in a timely manner
- Work directly with internal and external customers to develop evidence and establish facts on assigned claims
- Conduct thorough investigations and keep accurate and relevant documentation of file activity on each claim assigned including coverage liability, status and damages that are applicable for each claim
- Organize, plan and prioritize work activities to keep up with current assignments and to ensure prompt conclusion of claims
- Honor/decline/negotiate first- and third-party general liability or general casualty claims upon completion of coverage/policy investigation and analysis of damages and liability
- Prepare and present claim evaluations for appropriate settlement authority
- Notify the Underwriting Department of any adverse information uncovered in the course of claim investigation
- Be knowledgeable of unfair claim practices in states where First Chicago operates
- Conduct business with vendors in a manner with maintains a reasonable expense factor and upholds the company's reputation for quality service
- Provide customer service both to internal and external customers
- Handle other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to work in person from Bedford Park office (60638)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five plus years’ experience in a claims role, either general liability experience, including property damage, or general casualty with bodily injury experience
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal, written, phone) skills
- Licensed Claims Adjuster where required by state statutes
- Bilingual ability (Spanish) is a plus
- Previous supervisory experience welcome
As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $25/hr.Always accepting applications.
